2006 October 29 - The Ouvrage Blaise is a hilltop fort on the outskirts of Metz built in 1870 to resist German invasion. The Fort du Hackenburg is the largest fort on the Maginot Line and was occupied by the Germans in WWII. The Americans liberated the fort at the end of the war and inflicted serious damage to the gun placements.

2006 November 05 - The Fortress at Bitche was designed by the famous engineer Vauban in 1624. The fortress has seen many wars but has always remained impregnable. The fortress was one of the last French hold outs in the war of 1870 against Germany. Bitche is 100 km east of Metz.
